Aims and Scope
Research Articles present original, previously unpublished contributions to the fields of arts, communication, and digital media. Submissions must demonstrate theoretical rigour, methodological clarity, and substantive engagement with existing scholarship.
This section welcomes:
- Empirical Studies: Quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-methods research
- Theoretical Papers: Original theoretical frameworks or critical interventions
- Methodological Papers: Novel approaches to research methods in the field
Submission Requirements
- Abstract: 200–300 words, structured (Background, Purpose, Methods, Key Findings, Conclusions)
- Keywords: 4–8
- Figures and Tables: Maximum 10 combined, embedded in the manuscript
- References: Minimum 25, formatted in APA 7th Edition
- Supplementary materials: Encouraged (datasets, code, multimedia); submit as separate files
Originality and Peer Review
- Manuscripts must not be previously published or under concurrent consideration elsewhere
- Similarity to published work must not exceed 20% (excluding properly cited quotations and references)
- All submissions undergo initial editorial screening followed by double-blind peer review with at least two independent reviewers
- Authors must fully anonymise manuscripts before submission
Review Articles
Aims and Scope
Review Articles provide a comprehensive, critical, and systematic synthesis of existing literature on a specific topic within arts, communication, and digital media. They should offer novel insights, identify knowledge gaps, and propose directions for future research. Review Articles are often written by established researchers in the field.
Submission Requirements
- Abstract: 250–350 words, structured (Background, Scope, Key Findings, Conclusions, Future Directions)
- Keywords: 4–8
- References: Minimum 50, formatted in APA 7th Edition
- Search Strategy: Authors must include a statement detailing the databases consulted, search terms, inclusion/exclusion criteria, and date range of the review
Originality and Peer Review
- Review Articles must offer a novel synthesis or critical perspective beyond a simple summary of the literature
- All submissions undergo double-blind peer review
- Authors must fully anonymise manuscripts before submission
Perspectives
Aims and Scope
Perspectives are short, forward-looking articles that provide expert commentary, critical analysis, or visionary viewpoints on emerging trends, breakthrough developments, or current debates in arts, communication, and digital media. They are intended to stimulate discussion and present new ways of thinking about a topic.
Perspectives are usually solicited by the Editorial Board, but unsolicited proposals are also welcome.
Submission Requirements
- Abstract: Not required
- Keywords: 3–6
- Figures and Tables: Maximum 2 combined
- References: Minimum 10, formatted in APA 7th Edition
Originality and Peer Review
- Perspectives should present a clear, well-argued, and original viewpoint
- Submissions may undergo editorial review or peer review at the discretion of the Editor-in-Chief
Book Reviews
Aims and Scope
Book Reviews provide a scholarly evaluation of recently published books in the fields of arts, communication, digital media, and related interdisciplinary areas. They should summarise the work's main arguments, assess its contribution to the field, and identify its strengths and limitations.
Submission Requirements
- Abstract: Not required
- Keywords: Not required
- Book Details: Must include the book's full title, author(s)/editor(s), publisher, year of publication, page count, and ISBN
- References: Optional; if used, follow APA 7th Edition
Originality and Peer Review
- Book Reviews are typically commissioned by the Book Review Editor
- Unsolicited proposals are welcome but should be discussed with the editorial office before submission
